NY STATE SPRING BURN BAN
 March 16 through May 14

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has issued their annual statewide Spring ban prohibiting residential brush burning (March 16 - May 14 for 2024). The Department reports “open burning of debris is the single largest cause of spring wildfires” in the State. Learn more at the New York State DEC website https://dec.ny.gov.

Safe boating course set for May 11

FLCC will offer an 8-hour course that provides an introduction to the basic principles of safe and responsible boating on Saturday, May 11, from 9AM to 5PM at the main campus. The cost is $10. Participants earn a safe boating certificate. Adults and youths are welcome. Youths must be at least 10 years old to participate. Topics covered include rules of the nautical road, required safety equipment, and special boating related activities. Effective 2024, all operators of motorized vessels born on or after Jan. 1, 1978 need to carry a safe boating certificate while operating. Spring Fish Sale

Spring Fish Sale A well-stocked pond can provide many recreational opportunities for your family. The Ontario County SWCD fish stocking program provides suitable species at a reasonable cost. Residents with ponds may purchase certified disease-free fish to place in their ponds. The 2024 Spring Fish Sale Order Forms are due by noon on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Fish must be picked up at 3:00PM on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Be sure to bring a container of pond water to transport your fish. For more information, please go to: www.ontswcd.com/fish-program.

North Bloomfield Cemetery Association 
  • Monday, May 27th the Memorial Day Parade and ceremony begins @ 8:30 am sharp at the corner of Rt. 65 and Quaker Meeting House Rd just south of the village of Honeoye Falls. The names of all veterans in our cemetery are read beginning with the French & Indian War. Bring a dish to pass for brunch or just come to the North Bloomfield Chapel following the service in the cemetery.
  • Tuesday, June 11th the North Bloomfield Cemetery Annual Meeting begins at 6:00 pm in the North Bloomfield Chapel. Come learn about the state of the cemetery and future plans, meet the cemetery superintendent and trustees. Find out about purchasing a plot or information about burial.
