SENIOR CITIZEN TAX EXEMPTION
PROPERTY OWNERS 65 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A SENIOR CITIZEN TAX EXEMPTION ON THEIR PRIMARY RESIDENCE. THE EXEMPTION IS BASED ON YOUR INCOME.
SENIOR CITIZENS HAVE UNTIL MARCH 1ST TO APPLY FOR THE EXEMPTION, AND A RENEWAL APPLICATION WILL BE REQUIRED ANNUALLY. YOU WILL APPLY WITH THE TOWN FOR THIS EXEMPTION-do not apply at the county or school district.
IF YOUR TOTAL YEARLY INCOME IS $32,400 OR LESS, PLEASE CONTACT (see below) THE ASSESSOR TO SEE IF YOU MAY QUALIFY FOR THE EXEMPTION. A married couple will need to include income from both spouses.
Income includes your full Social Security (benefit before any deductions see SSA-1099), any wages or salaries (W2), dividends or interest earned, Pensions, interest earned on IRA’s, disability, or unemployment payments.
